  • 23 George Street X Magda Celler
It is nice when people look at COW Vintage from a different perspective and that is exactly what Photographer Magda Celler did when she chose 23 George Street Jewellery as her subject for this photoshoot. This shows the great range of styles available from 23 George Street (Nottingham) which is also available in all COW stores.

With the help of her glamorous model Klaudia Weselak she captures many pieces and also makes the images look like they are from two different shoots, one being an evening look with gold and embellished pieces and the other slightly more casual with the bow necklaces, spikes and eye detail rings.

  • Florals For Spring..? Groundbreaking.
We know there is nothing new about getting your florals out for the summer, but there is something in that feeling you get when you dust off your floral dresses, blouses and shorts as soon as the sun starts shining again. And since we have been living under the rain clouds for so many months now, I'd say we all deserve that feeling!!!

We have put together our favourite florals and are planning our new outfits to put a spring in our step. Here's what we chose from our website and much more available!

  • James Quaintance - Get The Look
Every now and again people come into the public eye and you know they will definitely make a mark on us all. Whether it is in Fashion, Art, Movies, or Music, for decades we have been intrigued with an particular attitude and style that we undoubtably want to be involved in.

Today we are looking at the newest member of this group, model and skateboarder James Quaintance who's cocky, rebellious attitude and ability to mix old school style to classic gent to sportswear in the blink of an eye. Here at COW we all agree he has the charisma, attitude and style to pull off a long lasting style icon name for himself and we are looking at how to get this look.

COW is a haven of vintage clothes and accessories so, like James Quaintance, you can build up your own style using clothes once used for previous subcultures. Here are some of our favourite pieces we have chosen, inspired by James Quaintance but for you to wear how you wish!

  • Irene Yap Photographer X Cow Collaboration
Here we have another great shoot from the photographer Irene Yap. She recently borrowed a few pieces from COW Vintage to produce some subtle and dust like images for a self published magazine as well as being shown in a Photography Festival and you can find out more about that here, if you're into Photography or just like looking at nice pictures, maybe go and check it out.

More of Irene's work can be seen on her website here.

  • Inspirational!
There is a lot of people involved in the running of COW Vintage and when we were preparing our S/S13 Campaign Photo shoot we wanted to know what everyone in COW loved and how we could take this and use it as our inspiration.

Here are the mood boards we made up to keep us going and refer to while planning and working on the shoot shared by our staff and friends from all over! We love them and no doubt will be going back to some of them in the future

  • The Great Gatsby Is Here!
After waiting for what feels like 2 years for this movie to come out it is finally here! We are pulling out our posh frocks and shining up our sequins for a full on 1920's flap around with excitement. There is a lot of hype around this movie and here at COW we all feel like it is all absolutely worth it.

The cinematic genius Baz Luhrman seems to have definitely captured the heart of F. Scott Fitzgerald's 1920's American novel. Gathering together a cast of the finest including Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire to keep your eyes busy then Mr Jay Z scoring it with the star studded soundtrack featuring his bootilicious wife Beyonce, Andre 3000, The XX, Bryan Ferry, Lana Del Ray, Florence and the Machine and many more to pleasure your ears. It's an all round no brainer really..
We will be there with feathers on, literally, for the release Friday 10th May!

If you are as inspired as us and fancy prancing around in this glamourous and timeless style, here are some of our faves pieces available online now!

  • Dan Whitehouse Gig - Sheffield!
Here at COW we like to promote our much talented staff and this week one of our own, musical Dan Whitehouse, is playing a gig at The Shakespeare in Sheffield. If you are around on Friday 3rd May get yourself down to see him. Here is a short promo from his management and even though it's promotion it is all very true!! He will be supported by Dirdsbead another lovely lad close to our hearts in COW. So double trouble on Friday, we know where we will be.

    DAN WHITEHOUSE:

With a story like Dan Whitehouse, it's not surprising this humble lad from Swinton has so much to say. Having been part of so many successful and musically varied bands, Dan's powerful lyrics and humble melodies remind us just how talented Sheffield folk can be. From Fights to Rossman Frister, Mabel Love to up and coming Dens, Dan Whitehouse has seen it all and found his own style of lyrically driven, emotive music.
Have a listen to more at:  http://www.soundcloud.com/whitehouse-music and watch out for an Album release early Summer 2013.
You can also keep up to date with Twitter and Tumblr

    DIRDSBEAD:

Bringing you an authentic and natural collection of songs, created with the vision of creating and performing the project 'Dirdsbead", a lad from Lincolnshire having played in bands his whole life, gives you his own personal take on all things music and life.

Alongside our Competition to win tickets for you and a friend to attend the Dot to Dot Festival this month we are talking to some of our favourite bands that we look forward to watching there! Today we got hold of the babes from PINS and chat about what they're working on, who they are excited about seeing at Dot To Dot Festival, the best and worst thing they have ever bought at a festival and more!

    HIYA LADIES! X
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN GOING FOR NOW?

Faith - "The current formation of PINS has been since January this year. We got a new drummer, Sophie. Before that I can't remember."

WHAT ARE THE PINS GIRLS WORKING ON AT THE MINUTE?

Faith - "Singing, dancing, pretending to be film stars and we've just finished recording an LP, it'll be out later in the year."

WHAT'S THE BEST GIG YOU'VE EVER PLAYED?

Faith - "We played a Christmas show at the Bunker in Manchester last December, that was special. I have a good time wherever we play but the ones we curate ourselves stand out more to me. Saying that, we opened for British Sea Power a couple of weeks ago, it was Sophie's second show with us and we played a bunch of new songs to hundreds of strangers, it was really fun!"

Lois - " Yeah I think the Christmas one for me too. All the Bunker shows have been amazing, it was cool to be able to put our own."

HOW DO FEEL ABOUT PLAYING DOT TO DOT? HAVE YOU PLAYED BEFORE?

Faith - "This is our first time, we're playing all three cities so I'm looking forward to it."

Anna - " I've been a couple of times. If I think back to the first time I went and I was dreaming of being in a band... I guess things have gone pretty well since then to be playing all three festivals days this year!"

WHAT OTHER BANDS ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCH AT D2D?

Faith - "Swim Deep come up in our conversations a lot for one reason or another so I'd like to see them in real life. Other than that, I don't know. I like Best Friends so I'll try and catch them."

Lois - "Yeah excited, hoping to see Deap Vally and Wolf Alice."

Anna - "Hoping to catch Deap Vally, Lucy Rose and The 1975. I went to school with those boys and haven't seen them since the Drive like I do/ Big Sleep Days."

WHAT'S PLANNED FOR THE FUTURE AND WHERE WILL PINS BE AFTER THE FESTIVAL?

Faith - "We have a couple more shows in the UK and EU left after Dot to Dot then a few festivals in the Summer, come and see us!"

Lois - "End of the Road at the end of August should be cool."

WHAT IS YOUR FESTIVAL FASHION MUST HAVE?

    Faith - "Sunglasses"

    Lois - "Hotpants"

    Anna - "A kigu"

WHAT IS THE BEST AND WORST THING YOU EVER BOUGHT AT A FESTIVAL?

Faith - "Best and worst thing would be mushroom chocolate"

Lois - "Vintage shirt for £5 best and worst is Fosters"

Anna - "The best and worst thing I considered buying at a festival was a 'Nobody knows I'm a Lesbian t-shirt."

WHAT IS THE BEST THING YOU'VE FOUND IN A VINTAGE STORE?

Faith - "I got some really cute shoes from COW last year, I wore them until they fell off my feet. Apart from that I tend to collect boys t-shirts."

Lois - "Loads of things.. Gonna go with my fringed shirt though."

Anna - "My huge black fur coat from Ryan Vintage in Manchester. I lived in it, it kept me toasty on two visits to Iceland in Winter. Also I like that people nuzzle into me like a cat. Cute."

  • COW VINTAGE Spring/ Summer Campaign '13
Here at COW we have been super busy trying to jazz up our website, blogs, facebooks, instagrams, in stores and everything else visual. To do this we grabbed some babes, a load of clothes, shoes and accessories and went to an area in Salford in the freezing cold to take some photos of stuff we like!! I believe that's what they call in the fashion industry.. a "campaign".

Anyway here we have our selection of images you can expect to see knocking around online and maybe in stores.

  • Dot To Dot Festival X Best Friends
As you know we are running a competition to be in for a chance to win a pair of tickets to DOT TO DOT FESTIVAL! See how you can win yours here...

In line with this mega competition we are going to be talking to some of the bands who are playing over the 3 days of fun spread across Bristol, Nottingham and Manchester. We want to find out who they are excited about watching at Dot To Dot, where we can see them after the Festival and obvs what they will be wearing!

So to kick off all the excitement we spoke to the lads from the BEST FRIENDS. You may or may not of heard of this band but they are working to hard to make sure their catchy surf/ pop/ rock/ garage style tunes never leave your head. And with track titles like 'If You Think Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out', 'Surf Bitches' and 'Throwing Up' you can see straight away they aren't taking it too seriously but enjoying every minute and with this attitude they are becoming quite appealing to all music lovers.

WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON AT THE MINUTE?

Jack - "We're recording a new E.P hopefully to release before we start playing the festivals this summer."

WHAT'S THE BEST GIG YOU'VE EVER DONE?

Jack - "Loads but probably in the house we lived in last year. We used to put on house shows. They were always the most messy but the most fun and the living room made a perfect venue. We did a WWF themed fancy dress show once which was siiiiiiiick!"

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT PLAYING DOT TO DOT?

Ed - "It should be rad!"

WHAT OTHER BANDS ARE YOU LOOKING FORWARD TO WATCHING THERE?
